Ministry of Music and Arts
First Presbyterian Church is committed to sharing a diverse range of musical and artistic offerings in our worship and life together. On Sunday mornings in our worship services you may hear hymns, choir anthems, praise music, youth instrumentalists, organ or piano, or even some spontaneous rhythm instrumentalists from among the youngest of our worshipers. We believe whole-heartedly that music played, sung, and heard is an offering to God, and many different styles are comfortable to many different people. Pr. Stephanie likes to say, "Sometimes the most worshipful thing we can do is set our own preferences aside and let others praise God the way they wish." To this end, we purposely mix in a variety of styles of music across a worship service and the church season. We also support a variety of art displays in our narthex gallery throughout the year.
The First Presbyterian Church Choir will be directed by James Schuppener and is made up of approximately 30 members of our church and local community. You do not have to be a member of FPC in order to sing with our choir. We welcome people in all places on a journey of faith to participate in any of our church events, including singing with the choir. Ordinary the choir sings three out of four Sundays in a month at our single 9:30 a.m. worship service, September - May. The choir also usually sings at a service on Christmas Eve and on Good Friday. Practices are at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evenings in the church sanctuary. Adults and high school youth can join the choir at any time throughout the year. If you are interested in learning more about the choir call the church office to be sure they are rehearsing this week.
